Reasons We Like This Game:  Wipeout is one of the few really cool games Gottlieb / Premiere produced in the 1990's.  Sadly, Gottlieb was eclipsed by Bally / Williams during the decade, but a few titles really stood out and Wipeout is one of them! Good thing too, since there aren't any other skiing / snowboarding themed pinball machines out there! (post 1970's anyway)

First of all, the game is simply beautiful to look at.  The artwork is really well done, the colors and details really stand out.  Just like the real thing there’s green runs, blue runs, black diamonds and double black diamonds!  Wipeout has plenty of modes and fun stuff to do accomplish during a game.  Inside the playfield you'll find two jet bumpers, two out holes, THREE ramps, six stationary targets, three inbound lanes, a kicker target, and four drop targets!  But the best features of this pinball machine have to be the crazy ramps and super smooth ball flow!

Did you see the ski lift and the slalom course?  These motorized devices move the ball up to the highest point on the playfield (like a chairlift) and then the slalom course is actually a player controlled, tiltable mini playfield! (just like the Path of Adventure playfield on Indiana Jones).  To make it work you use the flipper buttons to move the playfield left and right.  It's fun! The game has a fairly open playfield, but its very balanced too with an equal amount of short shots and long shots.  Wipeout has three multi ball modes as well! (2,3 and 4-ball multi-ball) Perfect for pinball players of all levels, its not too difficult to figure out, yet its deep enough for experienced players too!  Kids will love it, and it looks great in the family game room!

Special Features:  Wipeout is one of the best flowing pinball machines out there, but the coolest feature is without a doubt chair lift!  This motorized device actually grabs the ball and brings it up to the highest point on the playfield and drops it onto the slalom area! The slalom is a mini playfield that you actually control using the flipper buttons!  Loosely developed along the lines of Indiana Jones, it's quite fun and quite tough!  All in all, Wipeout is great all around pinball machine, made even better with the latest in digital chips and technology!  It’s a very difficult game to master (or complete for that matter) so it will remain fun for years to come.  Rare from a theme standpoint (skiing and snowboarding) and rarer still because they never produced many (a skiing themed pinball probably wasn't the smartest choice as far as popularity goes)  But that's exactly what makes Wipeout such a cool find!
