MaverickMfr Date: 1994 – Sega Pinball Qty Made: Production Game – Approximately 4,000 were made. Designer: Tim Seckel Artwork: Marcus Rothkranz Reasons We Like This Game: Based on the popular movie Maverick from the same year, this pinball game is a must for any Mel Gibson fan! Maverick features great artwork and graphics from the movie, as well as features voices from all of the main characters! (Mel Gibson, Jody Foster, etc.) Like the movie, Maverick has a great southwest feel and look to it, and even has a working paddle wheel boat inside the playfield! Maverick features three jet bumpers, two slingshots, three flippers, two ramps, and EIGHT stationary targets! The mechanical paddle wheel boat is one of the best features of the game... It actually grabs the ball and stores it inside a wire form until they are released for one of FOUR different types of multiball! (This same concept used by both Cyclone and Hurricane, where a Ferris wheel picked your ball up.) It's a cool feature and fun to watch! Additionally, the game features TWO video modes where you get to play both blackjack and poker! Last but not least, Maverick uses Sega's super size dot matrix display! It's a full 1/3 larger than standard displays, and is found on only six games (Baywatch, Batman Forever etc.). Smooth playing and lots of modes to complete before reaching the wizard mode, Maverick makes a great choice for adults and kids alike! Destined to be a prized collectable, Maverick will look great in your gameroom and is fun for the whole family! Special Features: Maverick is one of the few games ever created with an extra large dot matrix display! While its hidden most of the time, there’s a captive ball behind one of the drop targets underneath the paddle boat... If you hit down several of the drop targets using the upper right flipper, the captive ball becomes exposed and you can hit it for lots of Jackpot points. It's pretty hard to do, but fun! Additionally, this game has TWO video modes where you get to play both play blackjack and poker! Last but not least, the paddle wheel on the boat actually moves, and if you make the left orbit shot, it will scoop up the ball and put it into the ramp for multiball! When we ship the game, we'll also include the rare Playing Card Marquee that sits on top of the backbox. These marquees are rather delicate, and most were destroyed throughout the years, but it's a nice feature and will make your game complete! Maverick also utilizes Sega Pinball’s BST 2000 stereo sound system, and is one of the best sounding machines you will ever hear or play! Fun for everyone, Maverick makes a nice investment game and continues to rise in value throughout the years! We have installed the latest rom revision as we do with all of our pinball games.
