Reasons We Like This Game:  Without a doubt, Fathom is one of the best looking pinball machines of the era.  The artwork is simply beautiful!  Greg Freres did the artwork packages on other notable pinball machines such as Medieval Madness, Star Trek Next Generation, Elvira etc.

For a game of the early 80's Fathom has quite a bit of action and precise, super smooth ball flow.  If you remember playing this game, then chances are you haven't forgotten it either! This game has so many bells and whistles, but it's primarily a drop target lovers delight!  Regular drop targets, stacked drop targets, and even memory drop targets! The middle of the playfield is pretty open so there’s plenty of shots to hit, but that said its mostly a long shot game.  Because it's a long shot game, it takes skill and practice to master and you have to be precise with every shot.

Fathom features two out holes, a spinner, slingshots, three roll over targets, a stationary target, FIFTEEN drop targets, three jet bumpers, a three ball multi ball, and three flippers.  That's quite a bit of stuff for a game!  Fathom is an incredibly well balanced game with equal left and right shots! And the best part?  It even has speech - a rare thing for games in this era!

Special Features:  Fathom is one of our favorite titles of the era!  The game features traditional targets, stacked targets, and memory targets (which means it can raise and lower individual targets with out you hitting them.)  It's a target paradise, and as such, makes it that much more challenging than most other pinball machines.  Why?  Many targets are timed or need to be completed in sequence so have to be quick and good!  Ball flow is amazingly fast and smooth with lots of long open areas for the ball to move around in.  With three flippers, the action becomes even more intense as some shots can only be made using this flipper!  If you've played this pinball machine, you'll of course remember the groovy deep voice.  That was brand new state of the art technology at the time!
