Reasons We Like This Game:  Totem is a wonderful playing pinball machine with a classic cowboy & Indian / American West theme.  Like it's younger cousin "Big Indian" (manufactured in 1974), Totem shares many of the same design elements and features, but unlike Big Indian, it was created with "new" solid state circuit technology.  For a 70's era game, it’s a really fun game to play and is filled with fun stuff to do!  Totem has two jet bumpers, six drop targets, a patented "Vari-Target", kick out hole, several roll over targets, various stationary targets and drop targets too!  One of the most unique features on this game is the “Vari Target”.  This is a specially designed target that actually senses how much the ball hits it.  Think of it as a 4 position target..  If you barely hit the target, it will only move back one position.  If you hit it hard and dead center, it will move all the way back to the fourth position! The further back you hit it the more points you are awarded!  It takes a lot of practice to master the shot though!

Totem is a fairly simple game to understand, but is filled with lots of complex shots and things to shoot at to keep you busy for years! Known for it's fantastic ball flow and playability, Totem makes an excellent choice for beginner players and experienced players alike!  The artwork is vivid and detailed with an irresistible charm about it that will take you back a few years, and looks great even when the machine is not in play!

Special Features:  Totem is one of the first games to feature the “Vari Target”.  Another interesting feature about this game is that the left slingshot is not really a slingshot!  There’s no mechanism to bounce the ball back.  Instead there is a switch behind the rubber that awards points, but the ball just bounces off of the rubber.  It's really interesting to play a machine without the traditional slingshot, and give the game a completely different feel.

If you're a collector looking for a machine with a different twist to traditional play, Totem will make a great addition to your collection... it's really fun!  Check out the unique blue tinted scoring display...  It's beautiful!  Totem is a one-ball game, and has some of the best classic Southwestern style artwork we've seen!  The color palette is perfect, with hues of reds and yellows on the cabinet, and teal and orange on the playfield.  This machine is perfect for the family environment, or for collectors looking to add a beautiful, modestly priced machine to their collection!
