Reasons We Like This Game: Terminator 3 - Rise of the Machines has arrived! Designed by Steve Ritchie, who also designed T2 (Williams, 1991) Black Knight, High Speed, Star Trek Next Generation and many more classics, it's nice to see some of the same elements that made the original T2 famous! You'll notice that the playfield is laid out in a similar fashion to T2, and there's plenty of Steve Ritchie's legendary "feel" to it... Nicely balanced with an equal amount of short and long shots, plus a fairly open, uncluttered playfield!
Inside the playfield you'll find three jet bumpers, one captive ball, 13 stationary targets, one drop target, FOUR ramps, one outhole and a kickback feature! A cool trick is watching the ball fly up a ramp, roll behind the playfield, and then is diverted into one of the other ramps! (Diner and Mousin’Around also do this trick). There's plenty of shots to accomplish and modes to complete playing Terminator 3! (Eight modes to be exact) There’s also a canon like device in the center that launches the ball back at the player! (Star Trek The Next Generation and Black Rose are the only machines ever created with this feature). Terminator 3is great for pinball players of all levels... Not too difficult to understand, but deep enough for experienced players too. It also features three different types of multi-ball play and a 4-ball multi ball! Last but not least Terminator 3 features a user controlled animated back box! There’s a gun like device that moves up and down, and when you press the launch trigger it fires the ball! Try and hit all five of the stationary targets (during the RPG mode) to earn extra points! All in all, T3 is an excellent package that's well thought out, has great sound, speech (over 450 different calls!!) music, and a really great artwork package that's just as cool (if not cooler) than the original T2!
Special Features: Terminator 3 - Rise of the Machines is Steve Ritchie’s first Pinball machine in about eight years! Well known for creating some of the best pinball titles in history, Steve's last design was "No Fear" for Williams back in 1995. T3 is one of the few games created with an animated back box that actually works, has a cannon, and has targets to shoot at! (Banzai Run is the best example of this). It's just too cool! While most games only have one or two ramps, Terminator 3 has four! (All the ramps are beautiful chrome wire form instead of plastic) The Cyborg heads actually light up, and the playfield space (and smoothness) is increased by running ramps behind the cabinet! While most games only have three or four stationary targets, T3 has a whopping 13! There's a video mode, the animation is awesome, and the speech, sound and music are the best Stern has ever created thanks to the latest in technology and digital chips! Tough to master all the shots, but perfect for kids and adults alike, you'll love playing T3 for years to come!
